The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Voice Frustration Over Sizing Changes
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has revised its size classifications for women's and children's clothes failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to check their listings and update the measurements by hand when needed, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Updates
Earlier, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - for example a size L was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Member Accounts
One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Another user, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the platform withdrew an update regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
